The mission of The ENOUGH Campaign is to protect our families and our country as we advocate for more public awareness on the issues of gun violence prevention in America. Through legislative advocacy and community education, we champion stronger gun laws and aim to transform public perceptions of gun safety.
- An immediate ban on the sale of assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition clips.
- A federal law requiring a criminal and mental health background check on every single weapon sold in America.
- That gun trafficking be declared a federal crime.
Our purpose is to motivate people in great numbers to challenge the current gun laws and to keep the common sense gun law conversation alive.
We envision peaceful neighborhoods and safer communities across the country, free from military-style automatic weapons. We believe American families should be able to live their lives free from the fear spawned by an epidemic of gun violence that plagues our country.
ENOUGH was started immediately in the aftermath of Sandy Hook by concerned mothers in the Connecticut area around Newtown.
That horrible day taught us that real, meaningful change to our gun control laws is not going to happen unless outraged Americans like us make their voices heard. If we don’t speak up, then we should expect another Sandy Hook. And for mothers, that thought is simply unacceptable.
ENOUGH began as a group of outraged mothers, but we are now comprised of fathers, aunts, uncles and anyone else who agrees that we must act now to control guns if we want to make a safer America for our children.
ENOUGH stands for “Empowering Nonviolent Opposition to Unnecessary Guns in Homes.” By “unnecessary”, we specifically mean assault weapons. We’re not attacking anyone’s right to own a weapon. What we are demanding is tighter control over the types of weapons we can own, and how those weapons are obtained.
